The brief

As HelloFresh continues to expand its physical and digital product ecosystem, the challenge was to turn ongoing product innovation into clear, meaningful, and differentiated customer value.

With new recipes, lifestyle-led concepts, private-label products, personalization features, and engagement tools entering the ecosystem, the goal was to ensure these innovations did not remain isolated product updates, but became tangible proof points of the HelloFresh brand promise.

This project focused on developing a new product or feature idea that could strengthen HelloFresh's customer value proposition and create clearer differentiation in the market.

The work included defining the customer problem, shaping the product concept, clarifying its role within the broader HelloFresh experience, and exploring how it could come to life across key touchpoints such as the app, the box, or both.

The project also examined how Product Marketing can create value beyond launch execution by influencing product strategy, positioning, go-to-market planning, lifecycle engagement, and success measurement across product, brand, and business outcomes.

The opportunity

The fridge is where decisions happen · not the meal plan. If we own that moment · what's visible, what's possible · we stop selling plans and start solving real problems. Knowing what's already in the kitchen lets us stop suggesting what people already have, sell only the missing pieces, bundle with HelloFresh meal boxes, and turn kitchen chaos into clarity.

The idea

Fridge · a feature that transforms HelloFresh from a meal kit company into a kitchen intelligence platform. Three core moments: Capture (snap the fridge or add ingredients manually · AI does the heavy lifting), Discover (recipes you can cook right now, or recipes that need just 1·2 items), and Complete (order only what's missing, perfectly portioned, delivered fresh).
